Meet Alicia Herrington

Alicia is the owner and lead designer at DecorChic Living. She has a background in fashion and interior design spanning more than two decades, and she brings a level of expertise and personal attention that is rare in a retail setting. She is known for her warmth, her practical advice and her commitment to making every space both beautiful and functional.

She does not sell you a product. She helps you find the right solution for your home and your life.

I started with a needle and thread

I have been sewing since I was six years old. It began as a childhood habit and turned into a career. Understanding fabric, how it falls and how it wears, is still the part of the work I like best.

Learning the craft

I studied at Fanshawe College, then completed a design program online through a Vancouver design school. Those years taught me how a good design comes together: how fabric behaves, how to get a precise fit, and how to finish a piece so it holds up.

My own business, then DecorChic Living

In 2005 I launched my own fashion and design business. I learned that people want to be listened to as much as they want a good result.

In 2016 I founded DecorChic Living, and we have been part of the Belleville community ever since. It grew into the home decor shop and the window coverings work you see today. Our showroom is at 6835 Hwy 62 N, Unit 3, in Belleville, just up the road from Walmart. If you are looking for home decor, please visit our home decor shop.

This site, decorchicblinds.ca, is the custom window coverings side of the business: blinds, shades, drapery and curtains, shutters and motorized options.

How we work: discuss, design, install

We keep it simple, and we keep it personal. We listen first, then guide you toward the best solution for each room.

Discuss. Meet one-on-one with a design consultant in our design studio, or have us visit you at home. Virtual consultations are available too. We talk through your design goals, your style and preferences, review fabrics and colours, discuss measurements and give you a ballpark quote.

Design. Based on your preferences, we recommend products, styles, fabrics and colours to help you realize your vision and fit your budget. Once you have made your selections, we take detailed on-site measurements to ensure a perfect fit.

Install. We keep you informed at each step and schedule installation when it is convenient for you. Our team of professional and courteous installers arrives at your home, installs your window coverings and makes sure you are completely satisfied.

You are never handed off to a stranger. The person who helps you choose is part of the same team that will measure and install.

Window coverings and design services

Custom blinds and shades, custom drapery made locally, interior and plantation shutters, motorized window coverings, and specialist solutions for difficult windows such as skylights, arched windows, sliding doors, French doors and sidelights. We also offer interior design consultations and home staging.

Authorized dealer

We are an authorized Hunter Douglas dealer. That lets us offer well-known blinds, shades and motorized systems backed by the manufacturer's warranty, alongside custom drapery and other select lines. Read more about what that means.
